Every Privy wallet on the XRP Ledger needs 1 XRP to exist
The 1 XRP Mainnet base reserve applies even to stablecoin-only wallets, as of Oct. 14, 2026. Each trust line or offer can add 0.2 XRP, and validators can change both values.

Privy announced on Oct. 13, 2026, that it is partnering with Ripple to bring Privy wallets to the XRP Ledger. Each of those wallets has to hold XRP before it exists on the ledger. The required minimum is the base reserve, which every XRPL address must hold. Privy's XRPL documentation puts it at 1 XRP as of Oct. 14, 2026, the Mainnet figure in the XRP Ledger's reserve documentation.
So yes, a Privy wallet ties up XRP, even if it will hold only stablecoins. The 1 XRP is the floor rather than the total. The XRP Ledger's reserve rules add an owner reserve of 0.2 XRP for each object the account owns, such as a trust line, which records a balance of one issuer's token, or an offer, an open order on the ledger's exchange. The exception: an account funded with exactly 1 XRP can open its first two trust lines without that owner reserve.
Privy brings app-made wallets to the XRP Ledger
Privy builds embedded wallets, the kind an app creates for you inside its own sign-up. Privy is owned by Stripe, CoinDesk reported. CoinCentral reported that Stripe bought Privy last year and that Privy still operates separately. The XRP Ledger partnership itself is between Privy and Ripple.

Privy's announcement lists what developers will get. They will be able to create and manage XRPL wallets programmatically, sign XRPL transactions and build with XRP, RLUSD and other assets on the ledger. RLUSD is Ripple's dollar stablecoin. Privy's documentation describes wallet creation and signing as available as of Oct. 14, 2026.

The @XRPLF account, which bears the XRP Ledger Foundation's name, posted on X at 4:48 p.m. UTC on Oct. 13, 2026, that XRPL wallets are now live in Privy.
The documentation also sets the order of steps. A new wallet must receive the base reserve before it can submit transactions.
Each trust line adds 0.2 XRP, with one exception
An account funded with exactly 1 XRP can open its first two trust lines without extra owner reserve, so its reserve stays at 1 XRP. An account funded with more than 1 XRP owes the normal 0.2 XRP per trust line. With one trust line, it ties up 1.2 XRP: the 1 XRP base reserve plus 0.2 XRP. A second trust line or an open offer raises that to 1.4 XRP.

Under the XRPL reserve rules, reserved XRP stays in the wallet and can pay transaction fees. You can recover some of it by deleting the account. What you cannot do is send it to others.
A wallet can also slip below its reserve, for example after paying fees out of it. The account still exists and can send other transactions while it can pay the transaction cost. Sending XRP and creating new objects that raise its reserve are blocked.
Validators can change the 1 XRP by vote
Validators, the servers that agree on each new ledger version, vote on reserve and fee settings through XRPL fee voting. The network adjusts the settings to the median of trusted validators' preferences. Both the 1 XRP and the 0.2 XRP can change that way.
The reserve documentation also describes a way for another account to carry a wallet's base reserve. That sponsorship requires the Sponsor amendment. Amendments are protocol changes that take effect only after validators enable them.
The AI payment numbers measure two different things
The AI payment figures around the deal come from two originators, and CoinDesk reported both. RippleX Head of Engineering J. Ayo Akinyele said on X in early October 2026 that the XRP Ledger had processed more than 13 million agent payments through x402. That is an open payment standard: a server answers an unpaid web request with a payment demand, and the client pays and retries.
The XRPL AI Hub, a dashboard operated by t54, showed more than 14.3 million cumulative transactions across 169 registered merchants as of Oct. 14, 2026. Agent payments and dashboard transactions are separate metrics from separate originators. The two numbers stand side by side rather than in sequence.
For an XRP holder, the reserve question runs through accounts rather than payments. Privy put the XRPL at more than 8 million funded accounts and $1 trillion in value moved over more than 14 years. Accounts can drop below their reserve and stay on the ledger. So that count times 1 XRP is no measure of the XRP held in reserves.
You can export your keys in two formats
Privy's XRPL docs list two export formats as of Oct. 14, 2026. One is a raw hex secp256k1 private key, the other a BIP-39 seed phrase, the word-list recovery format many wallets use. XRPL's native family seed format is not supported. If you plan to move the key into a wallet you control, check which import formats that wallet accepts.
Apps can also limit what your wallet signs. For wallets with policies, Privy's policy engine evaluates decoded fields only on Payment, OfferCreate, OfferCancel and TrustSet transactions. Requests of other types are denied unless a matching system-level rule allows them.
Privy plans to deepen the integration over time, including policy controls and gas sponsorship, and gave no timeline. Gas sponsorship means an app pays transaction fees for its users. That is a separate cost from the 1 XRP reserve.
Privy's documentation tells the app to fund each new wallet. Whether the app or you bears the 1 XRP stays open until Privy says so, and until then the app's own terms are the place to check. The next steps to watch are the launch of Privy's gas sponsorship and the Sponsor amendment's status on Mainnet.
