Where can you use it?

United States

US access is supported, including Hawaii and New York. Individual assets, staking and other features can have separate state restrictions.

United Kingdom

UK accounts are supported. Available payment methods and account checks depend on your circumstances.

What does trading cost?

Simple purchases use variable fees and include a spread shown before confirmation. Coinbase Advanced uses an order book without the simple-trade spread; its own trading fees still apply.

Review the provider’s execution preview before you confirm. A quoted commission does not necessarily include every spread, payment or withdrawal cost.

Can US users buy XRP?

US XRP trading is documented in the official sources below. Still check your state, account eligibility and current withdrawal support before placing a trade.

Keep the trade and transfer records

Download acquisition, disposal and fee records in addition to any broker tax statement. A transfer into the platform can leave it without your original cost basis.

From account setup to your first withdrawal

Establish access before sending money

Start on the official Coinbase website and select your actual country and residence. Complete the identity and address checks requested for your account. Do not treat the availability of an app in a store as proof that your residence, asset and funding method are supported. Check the asset’s trading and withdrawal screens separately: these capabilities can have different conditions.

Secure your email account as well as the exchange login. Use a unique password and the strongest authentication method offered for your account. Save recovery codes offline. A support message, search advertisement or social-media direct message should not become your route into the account; return to the official app or bookmarked domain.

Choose the trading interface deliberately

Coinbase has a simpler buying interface and a separate Coinbase Advanced trading experience. Compare the actual preview for your planned order. The order-book interface adds decisions about order type, limit price, fills and cancellation; it does not make every purchase cheaper or suitable for every beginner.

For a market order, compare the estimated quantity and total cash debit. For a limit order, check what happens if only part of the amount fills, and keep track of any remaining open order. A displayed last-trade price is a reference: the effective price of your own execution can differ. Review the fee and quantity on the completed trade receipt.

Check the amount available to withdraw

A purchase may be tradable while its funding is still subject to a withdrawal hold. A visible balance therefore does not guarantee that the same amount is available to send. Read the account’s available-to-withdraw amount and release information before arranging a transfer. Changing a password or security setting can also affect withdrawal access.

For XRP, select the native XRP Ledger network supported by the receiver. Inspect the receiving address and follow the receiver’s destination-tag instructions exactly. A custodial deposit often uses a tag to allocate a shared address to your account. An omitted or incorrect tag can require a recovery process. For a new self-custody account, check the current reserve and the device’s own setup instructions.

Send a small test amount when practical, wait for the receiving wallet or service to acknowledge it, then inspect the final transfer details before sending the remainder. Keep the exchange withdrawal receipt and the public transaction hash together. An exchange transfer record alone does not establish the original acquisition cost.

When another route may fit better

If your aim is long-term self-custody, compare native-network withdrawal support and recovery planning alongside trading costs. If you make frequent trades, inspect order-book features and the fee tier applying to your actual volume. If you only need a simple occasional purchase, compare the final quote with the extra operational work of using an advanced interface.

Keep exchange and wallet decisions separate. Holding on an exchange leaves the account under the provider’s access controls. A hardware wallet changes who controls the signing keys and puts recovery responsibility on you. Neither choice removes market risk, and a hardware wallet does not reverse a transfer authorized to the wrong destination.

If funding or a transfer fails

Record the date, currency, amount, funding reference and transaction identifier. Check whether the problem concerns a bank payment, an unfilled order or a crypto withdrawal; they require different evidence. Reach support through the authenticated account or official support page. Never give a caller remote access, a recovery phrase or funds to “unlock” a balance.

For a crypto deposit, compare the actual network, destination address, tag and transaction status with the receiver’s instructions. A validated ledger transaction and a credit to a platform account are separate events. Keep the original records while the provider investigates, and avoid repeatedly submitting transfers to troubleshoot an unresolved destination.
